also, User account control did not step in as it usually does when installing an app. & I got "unable to open file" errors for every file it was trying to install.
running the installer as admin on the context menu worked though.

I can't cleanly quit Notepad++ 4.3 on Vista (home basic, 32 bit, quad core, 2G RAM). Previous versions worked fine.
Also, every time I start up I get a "Load langs.xml failed" and config.xml & stylers.xml errors too.

How did you install Notepad++ on your Vista?
Re-install it via the installer doesn't fix your problem?

I reinstalled at the time but it didn't fix it.
Now tho, everything works fine. Not sure what changed, don't even remember rebooting.
