I am running OpenCards 0.7 in Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon 7.10 under OOo2.3 (although it appears that the latest OOo build in the Ubuntu repositories is RC1, even though I had to download new packages for the entire suite during an update this morning.. my package says 1:2.3.0~rc1-1ubuntu2). I added OpenCards with the Extension manager, and it is not showing up in the Title bar.

Initially I could not get OpenCards to initialize (some java error in the extension manager), so I fiddled with the java settings (maybe it hadn't recognized my java install? weird), and it seemed to work fine: says enabled. However, OpenCards will not show up in the Title bar.

Am I doing something wrong, or could this be a bug?

    Thanks!

      Hi Steve,

installation problem: 7.10 (or at least its release candidate) still not bundles sun-java. There's a a java binary but is gnu-java which is not sufficient to run any common java application (like OpenCards). Therefore in order to install OpenCards you need to install java first ("sudo apt-get install sun-java6-bin")

missing menu: Good point. It seems to be an Ubuntu specific problem, because in Suse9.2 the OpenCards-menu appears as expected. I'll file a bug in the OpenOffice-tracker about that. Additionally I filed a bug in the OC-tracker (id 1799478).

A possible workaround (which worked at least for me), is to install another Impress extension which has a menu bar (like mOOo Impress Controller). For reasons I don't understand the OpenCards-menu will show up when both extensions are installed.

      Best regards,
      Holger
