Not a simple answer, was it? It required the source code and a suitable compiler to change the behavior to suit you. If you were smart enough to do that, why aren't you smart enough to realize that few even know what you are talking about, and fewer would know what's wrong -- and fewer still would know how to fix it.
Of those, how many visit the forum often enough? It's only been a week for me since my last visit, but that wasn't short enough for you.
If folks don't know an answer, they tend to not reply -- so the only replies will be from the a**holes like you and me. :-P Especially since your attitude might tend to keep others from even making the attempt to help...
I do thank you for telling the rest of us how you fixed it, though. :)

I knew the answer but I didn't post it because I don't want to be the **hole.
Now thanks to you I don't care to be an **hole and I do my first post in this thread.
Thank you Anonymous,

Hello All,
I was wondering if it is possible to change the comment symbol for a built in language like ASP.
langs.xml has properties called commentLine, commentStart and commentEnd but changing this file does not seem to have any effect on notepad++.
Thank you
Boys and girls of this great forum,
I guess I jumped the gun demanding a prompt reply for a non-trivial question.
Sorry.
It would have been nice though if somebody could have at least said editing langs.xml does nothing. I spent alof of time trying to edit that...
It seems like some attributes of built in languages are hardcoded and not read from langs.xml.
Does notepad++ need to be recompiled with a modified langs.xml for changes to take effect?
Thanks!
Thanks to all you assholes who replied, I figured it out myself.
I modified scintilla source code i.e. lexhtml.cxx recompiled it using mingw then placed the newly created .dll file on my notepad directory.
Great forum.
