I have seen in the FAQ that Notepad++ stores its configuration information in various files. Does Notepad++ store anything in the Windows registry, the Windows system folders, or anywhere else or is it self-contained? Can it be uninstalled by simply deleting its folders?

now i use zip version. this version can be unzipped to a single folder to run and also can be uninstalled by delete this folder.
i dont use the setup version. i think some folders will be created in different place on your PC. so if you want to uninstall npp you can not delete this single main folder only.
as for zip version when updating to latest version all *.xml and *.ini should be bakuped to hold the old configuration. it seems for the setup version just install.
