When using the Explorer plug-in (even with latest version), it is very slow on network drives.
When editing a file and then move the cursor in the Explorer view, the famous sandbox is shown for a very long time (15-20 seconds). This is almost not workable.
Has anyone else a similar experience?
Using the lightweight explorer plug-in has no delay at all (I know this one is doing less "under the hood", but it's at least very reactive...).

I have had this same problem. I get it whenever NPP loses focus (clicked on another window, did a find for something within NPP etc.). It almost seems like the explorer window is refreshing every time the focus is regained. Didn't go away with the new Explorer plugin either. I'm using XP Pro btw.

After taking the latest version of Explorer, NPP hangs when I activate the plug-in. Don't know if other people have encountered the same, but I was "forced" to kick out Explorer again and fall back to the light version (which works fine and fast in all circumstances...).
I will try the same at home this evening, since over there there's only a small network while in the office the network is quite huge. Maybe that might make a difference too.
For clarity: I've tried your DLL on Win2000. Other extra add-in installed is NppExec. Just for your information...
Any idea?
BTW: where can I find the release notes? Can't find them, neither in the dll zip nor in the source zip.

You can find the (release notes/change log) in several ways:
- Here in the forum
- In forum of Explorer - See http://sourceforge.net/projects/npp-plugins/
- In download section (the clipboard icon)

Just tried your DLL on a WinXP machine (previous test and problems was seen on a Win2000 machine), and there it works fine. It still takes a while before the network drives are detected, but now it's max. a few seconds, not the long time any more which was there before.
Didn't test it for a long time, though, so will keep on checking the performance and come back if there are issues seen.
So, apparently the problem is only visible on a Win2000 machine. Is that possible?

It is faster now Jens but it still takes 10 seconds sometimes. Maybe in the next release or whenever you have time you could make this autoupdate a configurable feature in the Explorer options (ie. turn it on or off).

is there anybody who can check this version on W2K machine? At best Geert do a re-test, but he didn't a reply until now. I would like to publish this new version this weekend!

One thing I forgot to mention is that I also use a VPN connection to access these drives.
Please re-test with following version:

Will do this on Monday and see the outcome.

Hi Jens,
Have a bit of bad news.

Hello,
yes it is possible. Can you check out this version?

Hey Jens,
I still get the sandbox when N++ loses focus and then regains it.
Sandbox is shown to notificate the user that the tree is now in update sequence. Automatic update was requested. And I do this anytime on focosing.
Anyway, can you confirm that update on Network drives uses less time now?

Jens
See just above, Jens.

Hey Jens,
I tried it on XP Pro and turning off the autorefresh works for me. Thanks a bunch for getting this out so quick.
Hi Jens,
Very sorry, I missed your email.
Tried the version you pointed at just now, but the result is the same: NPP hangs when I activate your DLL on a Win2K machine.

Hi Jens, me again (2 minutes after my previous post...) ;-)
Just saw the answer of the other guy telling that on WinXP everything went smooth when turning off the auto refresh functionality.
Well, just did the same on Win2K and it also solved the issue! So, apparently still some issues with the auto refresh then?
Seems to work even fast too. Will switch off the auto refresh on my WinXP machine too, so I guess it will work faster also on that one then...

Hi Geert,
now the dead lock is finally fixed. Download version 1.5.2 from npp-plugins page.
