I love the tabs, I love the multi-pane view, but sometimes I really want to be able to open separate instances, especially at home and at work when I've got multiple monitors to take advantage of. Firefox is a perfect reference - you can have as many tabs in as many windows as you want, and you can drag tabs from one window/instance to another. That way I can have a syntax document open on one monitor and a full-screen two-pane window full of code on the other.
