    Hello all,

I have having some problems running PyDev 1.3.8 on Eclipse 3.3 on my Linux box (Fedora Core 6, Kernel 2.6.20-1.2962.fc6, Python 2.4.4, Sun Java SDK 1.5.0_11)

Basically none of the features are active and nothing about PyDev is shown in the "about -> Plug-In Details" window!

Furthermore in the "Manage Configuration" window the PyDev entry is displayed with a white cross in front of a red background next to it! Getting the status of the plug-in display the following message.

    """
No plug-in: "org.python.pydev.core" included at runtime.
No plug-in: "org.python.pydev.parser" included at runtime.
No plug-in: "org.python.pydev.ast" included at runtime.
No plug-in: "org.python.pydev.jython" included at runtime.
No plug-in: "org.python.pydev.help" included at runtime.
No plug-in: "org.python.pydev" included at runtime.
No plug-in: "org.python.pydev.debug" included at runtime.
No plug-in: "org.python.pydev.templates" included at runtime.
No plug-in: "org.python.pydev.refactoring" included at runtime.
    """

I already tried a clean re-install and starting eclipse with the "-clean" option... nothing works!

Thanks in advance for any support,
    thornc
PS: Under windows XPsp2, eclipse 3.3, java 1.5.0_11 and python 2.5 everything works fine....

Are your file/directory permissions in eclipse ok?

      Is features/org.python.pydev.feature_1.3.8 there?

Do you have something in your error log?

        Hi Fabio,

Find bellow my replies to your questions.

        > Are your file/directory permissions in eclipse ok?
Think so, they are the same I have used always and the same as other plug-ins that work!

        > Is features/org.python.pydev.feature_1.3.8 there?
Yes, it contains the file "feature.xml" which btw is readable by all.

        > Do you have something in your error log?
Exactly which log are you talking about? I don't have the "PDE Runtime->Error log" log because I don't have it installed. I did run eclipse with the -debug and -consoleLog options, but there weren't any error messages in there...

anything else to look at? can the version of python be the cause?

        Thanks for your prompt reply,
        thornc

If you don't have the error log, you can see it at your workspace/.metadata/.log

Problem solved... although I don't understand how or why!

Basically I went back and removed all entries related to PyDev in my eclipse directory (although it was a fresh install) and installed again using the Update. It works now!

BTW. the log file you mentioned doesn't contain any errors related to PyDev... so I really don't understand what happened!

Thanks in any case for your prompt support!
