I was using Notepad++ in a two monitor setup, and had it moved on the secondary monitor. After disconnecting the two monitors, loading notepad++ showed it correctly in the task bar but its window was not visible any more. Unless Maximizing it, I found no other way to bring it in front of my visible monitor area. Perhaps, you should add a check when loading Notepad++ to verify that the window will appear in a visible area.

right click on the notepad++ in the task bar... then click move... then use the arrow keys to move it into the right place
