I've downloaded Notepad++ and it is one of the best programs that i've ever seen. It has preformed reliabaely and competetivly compered to programs that usually I would expect to pay for. BUT on a scan with AVG a warning message pops up telling me that Notepad++.exe is a Trojan horse Generic5.HLS - A computer virus. Now I'm noty trying to say dont download it - its one of the best programs I've ever seen, but be careful.

i did just find a work around
delete program files\notepad++\notepad++.exe
download the 4.1.1 zip file
extract
copy the notepad++.exe from 4.1.1
paste in program files\notepad++\notepad++.exe
also, whats up with nppcm.dll?

regsrv32 /u nppcm.dll does nothing

"False virus detections : if your anti-virus detects the uninstaller of the Notepad++ is infected, don't panic! It's a false virus detection. It's because some anti-virus products incorrectly detect certain NSIS components, which is used by Notepad++ to build installer, as being a virus."
I'm having the same problem. Does anybody knows how to solve this???

Download the latest updates for AVG, this issue has been resolved.

I think AVG must be detecting a false positive, going to see if i can email them

I was able to uninstall NotePad++ 4.1.2 and install 4.1.1 My scan with AVG 7.5 pro came up clean on the 4.1.1 binary. So yes it may be.
In order to uninstall I told AVG to repair my file, not sure if that will help. YMMV lurk.

This is what I found on notepad++ website:
