Suggestion: import/export preferences

Would be nice to be able to export/import user preferences into txt or xml file. There are quite a few preference tabs and redoing the preferences upon reinstall/new install can be pain.

Wow, I totally agree.

Notepad++ is great, but for some reason it still mis-handles some of the standard editor keyboard shortcuts. So I have to manually edit these commands each time I install a new version. That's in addition to all the usual preferences most of us have to reselect.

So yes, the ability to export and import settings would be great. But it would be even better if you could just install an update over the previous version, and your settings would be preserved (except for any of them that actually conflicted with new features). That's how many apps are these days. It's too bad Notepad++ is taking so long to catch up.

Never mind! I actually installed the current update (v5.5), and it preserved my settings. (I would delete my previous message if I could.) Thanks for the great editor.

Notepad++ has grown smarter at adding new settings without disturbing the original ones - of course, this works only with the installer, not with zipped distros.

Also, all settings are in text files - see (http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/notepad-plus/index.php?title=Configuration_Files), so there is no point in importing or exporting them - just changing a couple paths here and threre. Some settings are not remembered at shutdown, but they can't be exported either.
