if possible, in a future release I'd like a way to open multiple windows in np++ without having to open multiple instances.
I am aware of the -multiInst option, but what I would really like is for the new window to behave exactly like the current behaviour of multiple views in a single window. (try right clicking a document tab and selecting 'clone to another view' or 'go to another view'.)
so if I have a file open in two windows I would like one to be a clone of the other, with changes I make in one being reflected in the other. I would like to be able to send open files from one window to the other without having to re-open it. these things can't be achieved (as far as I know) with multiple instances.
it's just a thought; I know many people have made some noise here about opening in a new window, and the -multiInst option is a reasonable workaround; multiple windows could be quite different though, possibly much more useful.

Sorry, I obviously DIDN'T read your whole message. So you want a cloned view in an entirely separate window, but only so that you can place on window on the second monitor? It would be nice if -multiInst could synch like that. Can't you just stretch the single instance across the second monitor so that multi-view does what you want? All you lose is the ability to maximise - you have to "maximise" it manually.

good point, that does simulate the multiple windows reasonably. the behavior of two separate windows in sync would be nicer, giving me the ability to resize, focus on, and even minimize each window independently. also, the taskbar can get in the way when stretching across monitors.
it's a thought, and if it's possible I'd like to see it in a future version. it's not a make-or-break feature, but I think it'd be useful. please keep it in mind.

+1. Stretching doesn't work if you have different size monitors. It also doesn't make the windows available for any window managers (which is the main reason I want it).
I also would vote for making multiInst easier (as an option rather than me having to hunt down all the references in the registry).
