    Hi,

    I'm currently looking for a UltraEdit replacement, so I came across Notepad++, which seems to be a good product.

    Now about some features, can anyone tell me if the following are available? :

    1# Column Editing mode - Like the way seen in UltraEdit, that would be a great feature;

    2# FTP File Open - Can I open a file via FTP directly? Then on save, the program automatically replaces the remote file also via FTP.

      Hi,

      I was using Textpad before I moved to Notepad++, Compare is one feature I was using frequently to compare two files ( actually I want to compare contents of two documntes even before they are saved, just paste text in two windows and compare, results show up in other window).

      There's a column editing mode.  Check out the online help, available on the 4.1.2 or later help menu; it's right on the "Online Help" page that appears.

      There's currently no FTP support.  Camps are split on this.  I like my editor lightweight, so I hope that if they implement it, it's an optional plug-in that I can remove.  (I work on local copies, so that I always have a backup of what's available via the web...)  --Joel
