    Hi there,

I've just reinstalled my Vista and npp. Now I have got two problems with npp:

    - opening files by context-menu, won't do anything
    - opening files by open-file-dialog works fine, but changing and saving files does not show any effect

I've tried changing the permission for npp-folder, or even for the folder of files I want to edit. Nothing works.
Starting npp as admin will give me the error "Error creating process: nppcm.dll needs to be in the same directory than notepad++.exe", like in this thread (http://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=4202660).

Thats weird, because I used npp on Vista, same version, for month, and none of these problems appeared.

    Regards,
    Daniel

Maybe your installation defaults are different.  I think nppcm.dll is installed when you enable the Explorer Context Menu.  Were you using that earlier?

I don't use Vista, so I can't really be of help, but it is my understanding that it doesn't like giving an application the rights it might have abused under WinXP and earlier.  Apps should not write to their install directory, for example.

Maybe you can fix it by running it in WinXP or Win2K or Win9X compatibility mode.  Or maybe you can try re-installing it with a different selection for whether you use %APPDATA% or not.  --Joel
