Feature request: large file support

First: Thanks for this editor, which easily is the best for windows.

    Second: Criticism ;-)

If you open a large file (several hundred MB or more) in Notepad++, all hell breaks loose and you'll be forced to kill notepad++.exe in task manager. This mostly happens by accident (I didn't really want to edit a monster file like that, just have a quick peek), but still it can be annoying.

Any chance, N++ will learn to run in "disk-mode" for large files or refuse to start for inputfiles > X MB?

    Felix

I'd like to second that request. I sometimes have a 600 MB text file that I need to go through to see find out why it crashes on line 807 215... It simply won't load with Notepad++.

Doing a partial load (and unload) when file size is above a certain threshold would be quite helpful and would make Notepad++ even better.

      Thanks for thinking about it,

      Dominic.

Rarely I might need to edit multigigabytes files (5-20 GB). UltraEdit can open these files and it's the only reason I can't use only Notepad++ for all my editing needs.
Can Notepad++ be improved so it can handle "gigantic" files?

      Thanks
