I can only get the replace function to replace the tab with the specified number of spaces that I put in the replace box. I need to be able to replace with a variable number of spaces, based on the size of the tab.
Preferences > Misc does not seem convert the existing tabs to spaces, only newly created tabs.
Am I missing something?

Use the replace function or go to Preferences > Misc
