This version contains the minor features enhanced and bugs fixed.
It should more stable than v4.1.

Here are v4.1.1 fixed bugs and added features (from v4.1) :

    1.  Fix the unnecessary memory consuming (not memory leak) while find in files operation.
    2.  Enhance Find in files feature : Insert the default value to filters and Directory fields automatically while launch or switch to Find in file dialog.
    3.  Fix the crash bug while double click on find in files result.
    4.  Link clickable feature is optional (in Preferences->MISC).
    5.  Fix crash problem while search in all opened file in multi-view mode.
    6.  Fix Close button misplaced problem in Find dialog.
    7.  Change the plugin behaviour : different users can have different sets of plugins, besides the basic set. Notepad++ will load the plugins from %APPDATA%\Notepad++\plugins\ directory, in the case of absence of "doLocalConf.xml".

      Hello Vievk,

      - Run external commands from N++ and capture the output, like run a perl file from N++ and capture the output.

Use the good NppExec plugin. You can download it here:
      http://sourceforge.net/projects/npp-plugins/

      Best Regards

      Hi

is there any reason, why hexeditor and explorer plugin are no more integrated in npp setup?

Finally, someone is interested in v4.1.1.
I'm asking myself if it's worthy to continue improving it ;)

        > is there any reason, why hexeditor and explorer plugin are no more integrated in npp setup?

Yes, these 2 plugins are not included in this version because Hexeditor makes Notepad++ crash under some context, Explorer plugin has the slow-down problem when there's a disconnection net drive. Once those issues are solved, they'll be included again in the future version.

However, you may download in Notepad++ plugins project page if those issues don't bother you :

Well, I don't post much, but if it's worth anything, I check the npp homepage every day or two when I'm scanning for updated versions.  I'm always very excited to find when more work has been done on the project, and I keep my personal, work, and portable versions of NPP up to date.  I also evangelize npp and know many friends and coworkers who use it, and also appreciate your hard work on this project.  I even know one university computer lab that got NPP installed on it.  So ... hopefully you won't lose perspective.  There's lots of us cheering for you!

Thanks don for these new version. Yes it is already very interesting that you continue to improve it. Notepad++ is a very good product, but it is better at each version, your last improvement on find/replace dialog boxes are very very good.
Notepad++ is for me one of software which is made for the user and that is very very good.

Thanks for your job, and for these new release.

      Quote Don:

You must be kidding, I just looked at the download statistics and for the past 2 months downloads have varied between 5000 and 22000 per day! I'd say you have a VERY popular editor there. :)

I have only been usin npp for a short time, but I have tried most of the Scintilla based editors, and (IMHO) yours is the best.

My only complaint is the lack of robustness of the regex search and replace functions. I hope you can improve this (things like multiline mode and others).

Just a note about the behaviour of v4.1.1 installer :

In order to provide a new set of binaries which are coherent and
stable, the installer of v4.1.1 removes both HexEditor and Explorer (due to their unstable stat) plugins from the old Notepad++ installation before installing the version v4.1.1. For those who doesn't care (or even no bug for them), they can download it in Npp plugins page.

      Hi Don,

Thanks for your great work! I have been enjoying your NPP for quite a long time. and it's very pleased to see it keeps moving ahead.

I'm using it almost EVERYDAY and editing various text files. Usually I got more than 10 files opened and worked on them from one to another.

It would be great if NPP supports multi-line tabs so that people like me don't need to click that little "<", ">" buttons in order to see one file that's invisible from the tab list.

I figured out a quicker way by using Windows List (alt+w, w). but it seems I cannot drag one opened file and move its position, in such way to change its position in tab list. I see Windows List will sort tabs based on current file list, it could be more convenient if we can adjust individual file by using something like "Move Up", "Move Down" buttons.

Anyways, I thank you very much for this great product!

Another nice option is to right-click and use the scroll wheel.

about that... could this be done instatntly? without the list thing?

<Ctrl-Tab> and <Ctrl-Shift-Tab> do it "instantly" if you need to go just one tab step at a time.  The list still appears, but it disappears as soon as you release the <Ctrl> key, so stepping one tab ends up being just one compound keystroke.

          Regards.

Yup Don a good job. Keep up the good work.
What I do like is that np++ has so many uses. In the past I've used it for coding C++ but now mainly HTML.
However I put it to good use on a daily basis for editing my game servers' config files. Very nice.

"Run -> Launch in Firefox/IE" worked in the last version (though I had to tweak it from a suggestion in the forums), now that I've upgraded....they don't. Again.

So I'm going back through old forum posts, trying to figure what needs to be changed to get it to work. If there's a configuration that needs to be made in shortcuts.xml, why not put it in the README.txt! Every other text editor opens a file in the browser seamlessly, why does NPP ignore this?

Do you think ONLY programmers use your program? Hello??? Web Developers need to check pages in the browser!

      Hi Don,

Great Job!. A Must Have software for me. I am using N++ everyday for editing shell scripts, perl and html files. The 'Function List' feature is of great use.

Some more features that make N++ a better editor than many editors:
      - File Explorer & Funtion List in a side bar as tabs
      - Common Regular expresions(like \n newline, ^ start of line..) as a drop down in Find & Replace
      - Seamless browser integration
      - Run external commands from N++ and capture the output, like run a perl file from N++ and capture the output.

Thank You very much for such a Great Editor.

      Regards,
      Vievk
