The "Keep non existing file" dialog appears every time the Notepad++ window is selected if you are editing a deleted file. Preferred behavior would be for to display this dialog only once. If the user chooses "yes" then the tab should have a different status.

I strongly agree. It's very annoying having to confirm all deleted files everytime I activate the npp window. I often get deleted files, as expected, when viewing temp files from various other tools.

Being notified when files are upadated is not the same thing as being bothered constantly when a file is a buffer with no backing. The concepts are seperate but the option to disable the second - extremely annoying - behavior also affects the first behavior.
I think the bottom line is that most of us would perfer to only be told once per file status change at most. Then, if a file is being altered constantly by some other process, delay alerts for 5 minutes or something like that.

The preference is not clear.. please define the selection with similar wording as the event title.
To change this preference:
File Status Auto-detection disable.
(Warning labeled "Keep non existing file opened" warning should be renamed to "File Status: Keep non..." much clearer warning message/option.

An other approach is to warn the user only if he activates the specific document...
If you disable this option, will it still be possible to notified when a file has been changed ?
