from time to time, the task manager shows notepad++ is using 99% of cpu even if I am not actively using notepadd++ for any editing, only 3 files open(2 are really small, 1 is like 100k). anyone knows why? thanks.

In addition I would like to send you a modified version in next days to do some trace outputs. I would like to know why it hangs.
Some additional information are necessary:
- Can you tell me your OS?
- Can you tell me if you have installed Tortoise or other Windows Explorer extensions?

What are your Notepad++ version and Explorer plugin version?
Identify the plugin which causes the problem is the only way to improve the plugin.

My Notepad++ version is 4.7.5.
My explorer plugin version is 1.6.2
I'm using since 2 days the light explorer plugin now and I do not have CPU troubles till yet.

Could you remove Light Explorer and get back Explorer plugin to make sure the cpu consuming problem come from Explorer plugin?

forgot to say, it is notepad++ 4.1
It seems the bug comes from one of the plugins
Remove the plugins one by one to identify the problem.
Please let me know which plugin is the quilty one :)

i think it was the newstest version of the explorer plugin.
For me it resolved the problem
(For Nobody, and anyone has such problem)
So your problem comes from the "Explorer.dll", remove it from plugins folder will solve your problem.

sorry, wrong info. the big file is 15M. the other 2 files are < 1K
one more piece of info: the cpu hike happens when the notepad++ window is minimized.
