In NotePad++ a file can't be saved, if it hasn't changed.
This is a good feature, in my opinion, because what use would it be?
But, when I decide to _not_ reload a file after it has been changed externally, because I want to keep it like it was, how do I manage to do this?
I can't simply save the file again.
I could Save As... under the same filename. This works.
I could also change the file and rechange it to be like it was before (not use the undo feature), so NP++ marks the file as changed. I can save the file then.
I was thinking about requesting the file to be marked as changed, if it is not reloaded. But this would mess up the undo-history. It would not be clear anymore that within NP++ really nothing has changed.
Could you simply allow saving the file (Save me), if it was not reloaded?
This doesn't mess with any undo-history: it won't mark the file as having changed.
Because it can be seen that the file hasn't changed, it will be obvious that Save Me will be enabled because of an external (possible) change.

There also isn't a warning that you will lose internal changes, when confirming to reload the externally changed file, if it was also internally changed. I think a warning could be added to the message in this case, or an additional question asked to confirm losing the internal changes.

When returning to NP++, if files have changed, one is asked whether to reload them or not. This also happens when I simply open a NP++ file from Explorer. I wouldn't want to be bothered by those files, then, but it's OK that I am told that they have changed. I can choose to reload them or not, but I CAN'T choose whether to switch to (the last of) those files. NP++ will always show one of the files that has changed, instead of the file I just opened.
Could you change this behavior please?
If I open a file, I want NP++ to (finally) show that file.
Additionally, an option could be added to (always) show a file if it was indeed reloaded.
