    Hi,
I just updated to version 0.4.7 and suddenly get problems with the php-Backend (error message when choosing any test from the menu, asking to check pgp-settings). When checking the php-configuration, I noticed that in 0.4.6 I could specify the location of the php-support-files while this textfield does not exist in 0.4.7. As 0.4.6 worked fine, I guess that the problem might come from this?

    Thanks,
    Ralf

      Hi Ralf,

I don't think this is due to the missing option, but might be caused by a related small bug (which does not cause the failure, here, though). Could you try locating the installation directory of rkward (something like /usr/share/apps/rkward/, where the exact path is distribution specific), then cd to phpfiles/, there, copy "php.ini" to "php_ini". Does this help any?

If not, did you check that the path to the PHP binary is correct under Settings->Configure RKWard->PHP backend?

Which version of PHP are you using?

Which exact error message do you get? "The support file XYZ could not be found..." or "The PHP backend could not be started..."?

      Regards
      Thomas

      Update:

I just found that it is likely a third kind of error: "There has been an error XYZ while starting up the PHP backend...". With the current version of PHP4 in debian unstable, I can see this error, too. It's due to PHP producing some warnings at startup that it should not. See http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=419802 and http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=361789 . (Not sure, whether other distributions besides debian are affected).

It works fine with php5-cli, here, so if you have that option, try installing php5-cli, and changing the setting for the PHP binary to /usr/bin/PHP5 (or similar).

      Regards
      Thomas
