Upper window is not active, gets no focus

Possibly because of solving the focus problem when returning from other applications, this problem is caused.

I use the keyboard a lot, because my mouse is out often. I did open the Preferences window, but the same happens for the Style Configurator (in the menu called Style_R_ configurator). When this window is on top and I return from another application to Notepad++, this window is not active. The current text file has the focus. Now I can find no way to close the Preferences window on top.

Is there _any_ way I can achieve this by using the keyboard?
Will you be working on a solution for this focus/window activity problem?

I downloaded NotePad++ on my home PC last week. It has no Explorer Plug-In. I didn't have the known previous bug of losing the focus when returning to NP++ anyway (with only the main window). I would have noticed that bug if it would be there also.

When I have a window on top of NotePad++ like the Find dialog, this dialog doesn't get the focus when returning to NP++. The active tab does. I don't think this can be caused by the fix for the Explorer Plug-In (it is not on my PC). But of course I would like the Find dialog to get the focus again when I return to NP++.

I do notice that when I open the Find dialog and press ALT+TAB to switch to another application, NP++ is the first in the icon row as usual, but also NP++ is the selected item. This means that when I press ALT+TAB only once and release it, NP++ is still the active application. But it also has lost the focus on the Find dialog already then. Perhaps these events are related.

I also opened the Shortcut Mapper and was glad to see the Close button had a focus (then). I switched to another application using ALT+TAB and wanted to switch back. HUH? Where has my Notepad++ gone??? It was not in the application icon list, but it was still on the task bar. I could bring it to front again and also the Shortcut Mapper was not active now. But, even worse, I also did not have focus in the current text file. I tried to open the Shortcut Mapper again, hoping to get the focus back, but I simply couldn't: the ALT button did not activate the menu. It seems like Notepad++ now has no focus anywhere at all.

There was a focus problem with one of the plugins (Explorer, I think) in Notepad++ 4.0x that was fixed with version 1.2 of the plugin.  If you are not running the later version, delete or rename the DLL in your Notepad++/plugins subdirectory.  The later version can be obtained from the Notepad++ Plugins beta page at https://sourceforge.net/projects/npp-plugins in one of the submenus.  --Joel
