when i alt-tab out to another window, and then alt-tab back to notepad++, the focus does not go to the text editor area. i have to manually click on the text editor area to continue using.

Same here. This is the only gotcha keeping me from switching from Crimson Editor completely, and even though this focus problem is a pain, I am dealing with it because Notepad++ rocks.

I use v4.02 of THE BEST OPENSOURCE TEXT EDITOR IN THE WORLD. My alt-tab (or selection from the active taskbar) puts me in edit fine -- BUT: it takes as long as 3 seconds to get there! No other app in my armada seems to have this problem: You alt-tab (or task-select) most apps and you're there in milliseconds. Why does it take so long?
o yeh, Win2K SP4. Any ideas?

I identified the problem :
That's because you have a mounted network disk which is out of connection AND you have the explorer plugin opened - every time you get forcus explorer plugin check the dead connection.
Remve Explorer.dll from you plugin folder will remedy your problem.

Is this behaviour during a plugins? Could you rename the plugins folder and paste one by one into the new create plugins folder? I would know like to know what this causes.

Strange. When I Alt+tab back to N++ my focus is in the text area.
I really like this app. I am trying to completely make the transition from Textpad, but I am having issues with customizing my shortcuts. I've looked at the Shortcut Mapper, but I cannot create a keystroke to toggle wrapping. I hate having to click to View > Wrap. I'd love to bind that action to a keystroke or strokes.
I also need to figure out how to add and associate extensions so I can apply styles to the color coding (.cfml, .aspx, .ascx, .master to name a few).

This was brought up in the Open Discussion forum, and the problem is with the explorer.dll plugin for v4.0.2. If you close Notepad++, delete or rename the explorer.dll file in the plugins directory, then restart Notepad++, all alt-tab problems go away and you will be happy.
Enjoy!
