Every time I start N++ and going to open some file, N++ starts from it's own directory. Even after I changed directory, opened file here and then closed -- next my file open will start again from N++'s directory.

I think this will be very useful and not so hard to implement the feature to remember last opened file directory and next file openings to start from the same directory.

      Hi,

maybe you can add a setting like "standard directory"?  I think that this will help if you can start the file dialogue and the file selection e.g. in the directory "d:\" or another directory you can specify in the settings.

      kind regards
      Peter

A very cool feature in NoteTab was a menu of "Favorite" directories, where you can pick which directory to start in from a list.

I've used a similar feature in Gimp (image editor).  It's unbelievably useful.  Being able to set the default directory is useful, and remembering the last directory used is useful, but including a list of favourites in the open file dialog is even more useful.  Perhaps a history of recently used dirs too?  And an option to move dirs from the history to the favourites.

In the meantime, a good workaround is to place shortcuts to the directories you commonly use in c:\program files\notepad++.  Give them names that cause them to appear at the top of the list, so that you can easily find them.

This was one of my biggest gripes with NP++, until I put shortcuts in the default directory.

I agree that a "favorite directories" submenu would also be extremely useful. There are generally only 5-6 directories that I work with 95%+ of the time.
