John-007 - 2007-02-22

I loaded NP++ v3.9 and looked at some files. I viewed in hex and then binary, just to get a feel for the tool. After installing and using it I began having problems with Microsoft Word-97. When I start Word and open a file, the formatting is all gone, all text is the same font and everyting is left justified. However when I double-click on a .doc file the file comes up with it's normal format.

I deinstalled NP++ v3.9, but this did not change the way Word was working. I am running Win-98SE, if it makes a difference.

Has anyone else seen this kind of problem?
Any suggestions?

My next steps: 1) wait for answer, 2) install latest version of NP++, 3) re-install Word-97
