I've read on home page that Notepad++ is based on editor Scintilla: is Scintilla also open source? In Notepad++ is there any non-open source component?

I have come through this wonderful text editor called "Notepad++", I have liked it very much and dropped Editplus out of use in office over Notepad++.
However being a Linux enthusiast I run only Linux in my personal computer. I was shocked to see that Notepad++ was not available for Linux. Is there any specific problem with the Linux version.
I am keen on porting it over Linux and would like to see lot others using this software. Could you please guide me on the same?
