That's true. The arena size is ignored for the 'movie' level (it still works for the 'simple' and the 'square' level).
I don't know what it is with you people and large arenas and crazy speeds (I think small arenas and slower speeds are just about the same thing), but I'll work on a solution to make every level scalable.

That's right. You cannot color the walls in the movie level. Here's why:
The movie level's walls are solely made out of untextured triangles. In order to texture them, you'd have to edit the level's .obj file into a 3d modeller (e.g. Maya, Blender, 3ds Max) and then apply texture coordinates.
However, in order to see artpack wall textures, just load the 'square' level (select the corrent level in the video menu and then hit 'apply changes'). The square level's wall just consist of 4 textured rectangles (no fancy 3d architecture, but you can 'paint' on it).

Works for me just fine. This reminds me of something I wanted to ask though. After scaling the square arena size passed 1,200,000 the game's rendering seems to fall apart. What is the reason for that? (Persolally I think it looks really cool as it makes me feel like I'm going really fast.)

Which version of OS X are you running? I'm not sure if it currently rus on any version other than Tiger (I think back-support for up until Jaguar should be doable, but I'm not mac expert - if you know someone who is, get him to help me!)

is a place to start with (actually, it's only a link to an article that describes the first steps). I hope the article can be converted into wiki-format and expanded. Feel free to also include stuff like 'I totally don't understand how to do <what-you-want-to-do>' and hope that someone (possible me!) can fill in the blanks.

Andreas... I think it'd be a very good Idea to periodicly back up the wiki... Sense anyonce can edit it. someone may end up messing with it and post incorrect things or something completely different. <.< I've seen other people have the same idea of using a wiki and it only took one person to destory the whole idea.

and start contributing. Post your beta feedback here though...
lol I can see the eye candy now... :3 evil grin
oh uh... how many will be in the army? lol
w00t early bird. I think I dled it before anyone else <.<
I'll try to test it a little later though. I'll post what I think is cool or needs help.

Ouch, just noticed it doesn't run on my home system. I'll try to find out why and what can be done to fix it in a short while...
Ok, here's a temporary fix. Just download & install
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=32BC1BEE-A3F9-4C13-9C99-220B62A191EE&displaylang=en
if GLtron gives you an error on startup.
lol I was about to say it doesn't run but looks like you beat me too it. :)
Thanks Andreas, it worked!

>.< Andreas... I think some values in the newer version ignore a few things.
I used the settings in that last thread of mine and the arena size value is ignored.
...I quote me "zomg!" bOOM!

for some reason the artpack walls don't work. any artpack.

whenever i use the 'square' level, the game closes.
I have tried this on my 'test system' and it works as it's supposed to. Can you mail me the stderr.txt and stdout.txt files?
Can anyone else reproduce the problem, or does it work for you?
lol, Love the large arenas and crazy speeds quote!
It makes me happy!

Here GLTron always crashes, if I choose fullscreen (and in windowed mode I runs pretty slow)

can't wait for an OSX build to check it out...
There's an OSX version available now at
http://n.ethz.ch/student/aumbach/GLtron-0.80-beta-1991.tar.gz
It works on my G4 iBook, but it doesn't run too fast with all the eye candy enabled. Let me know if it works for you!

Doesn't work for me either. Bounces in the dock and dissapears. Under 10.4.8, Powerbook G4 1.67.
Will be there a linux version ??
Bye,
Steve14
how do we get the game to recognise the new 3d arenas we create?
