Hi. I've been working at this most of today and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I installed GLIntercept, put the OGLE folder in its plugin dir (renaming it to OGLE), then edited the gliConfig.ini by pasteing in what was in the gliConfig_OGLE.ini file. I then took the edited gliConfig.ini and the OpenGL32.dll (both from the top of the GLIntercept folder) and copied them to the top of the WoW folder (where the .exe is).
I open the game, hit ctrl+shift+f and nothing happened. I tried installing the UI program for OGLE, but again, I got nothing. I tried changing the shortcut keys, but that didn't help either.
I've tried everything I can possible think of and so far nothing has worked. I have gliLog.txt in my WoW folder so the GLIntercept is working though it only says:
GL Intercept Log. Version : 0.5 Compile Date: Dec 3 2005 Run on: Thu Sep 07 16:03:26 2006
please try changing FrameStartKeys to 'f6' in the config file, and then hitting the f6 key in the game. for some reason I have more luck with the F keys.

Nopes. I tried switching it to ctrl+shift+f6, just f6, and even Alt+t+f6. Nothing. I got a screen grab of what my folders look like and uploaded my .ini file (though I had to change the extension to .txt in order to upload it). Here are the links.
I used the UI program before grabbing that and it removes them I've noticed. They were there when I was trying all the different keystrokes. I thought I'd want to uncomment that section, but I figured I'd focus on getting it to work before I worried about getting it to work well. :)
I uncommented those lines, dropped the .ini and the .dll back in there and still nothing is happening. I even just updated my video driver.

Okay, I managed to get OGLE to work with the WoW model viewer (both with the .ini and .dll files in the GLIntercept folder and when I accidentally removed them, oddly enough). The .obj's are disasters (with the extension override commented or not, though the uncommented was a more compact ball of crazy), but I'm just happy to see an .obj at this point.
So, the program will activate on my machine. It's just not likeing WoW for some wonderful reason.

WoW model viewer often has problems, there's another extension you need to disable (VBO or something, it's in the forums somewhere).
as for normal WoW, i am really stumped because it usually works really well. please post the same screenshot you posted before, now that you've applied the DLL and .ini by hand. and also you current .ini file.
thanks,
mike

I'm not too worried about the model viewer. I was just happy that I got an obj from something. The model viewer has an option to export an obj all on its own so I dunno why you would want to use OGLE on it.
Yes, and just tried it again for good measure. Freakish, ne? I just had my roomate try it at home and he got no results either. Think an update to WoW is interfering with it?
I'll try it on another game when I'm home. I'm actually at work; my company is looking to print characters like that Anvil company is doing.

That is awesome! I will try that as soon as my roomate is done in his raid (as I'm home now). I've already gotten halfway through fixing up a model I got out of the Model View program, but using OGLE will be much easier than recreating client's characters piece by piece.
Sadly we're based in Pittsburgh. My roomate is in a large guild in WoW and they're having a convention here in a week. We're hoping to get a good idea of what our potenial clients think of our work.
We print with an InVision and though it doesn't print in color it prints with much, much higher definition, with smooth surfaces instead of the coarse feel of the Z-Corp. Though we're an engineering company, I'm trained as a computer animator so our capibilities to tweek up the exported model's are high. I could turn those low-poly models into high-poly if a client should want.

Sorry I haven't replied in a while. Was still having issues and had to get a prototype of the models we're trying to make ready to show to a WoW guild convention. (Went very well, thankfully.)
Believe it or not, my uber video card at work will not run WoW in openGL mode. Gives me crap about duel texture support. I have absolutly no trouble at all pulling models out of the ModelViewer with OGLE though, so yay!
Also, on my previous remarks about wondering why someone would use OGLE with ModelViewer (as it has an .obj export fuction in it), I understnad now. While you can export your model, it oddly refuses to export the toon, with the shoulders, and the weapon. I have to export the pieces separately and then reassemble, but... if I use OGLE, I don't. Far easier. It saves me a good fifteen/thirty minutes and as they say, time is money.

I know, I was shocked, too. It's a high end video card and everything. On the upside, the UI program for OGLE does a beautiful job at pulling things from Model Viewer and actually I like the precision of Model Viewer better than straight out of the game (I can select the exact pose and point in the pose animation that I want much easier).
We're currently working at getting the price in the doable range, but this is what I brought to the Con.

If that tells you anything.
Please, any help would be awesome. My machine is more that capable of handling OpenGL as I work with Maya on it.

I'm really at a loss here. I've got an NVIDIA Quadro FX 500 so I'm more than OpenGL compatible.
i don't see the OpenGL32.dll or gliConfig.ini file in your WorldOfWarcraft folder.
also, you are going to want to uncomment the ExtensionOverride plugin in the gliConfig.ini
I used the UI program before grabbing that and it removes them I've noticed. They were there when I was trying all the different keystrokes. I thought I'd want to uncomment that section, but I figured I'd focus on getting it to work before I worried about getting it to work well. :)

have you tried:
FrameStartKeys = (f6);
??

wait, I know what it is!!! WoW is probably not running in OpenGL mode.
try this to enable opengl: http://www.harald-hoyer.de/category/world-of-warcraft/
where are you located? if you are in/near nyc, we could probly arrange something...

I find that hard to believe but what do I know?!?!? maybe try at home or on a less crazy computer?
anyway, please make sure to send screenshots or something of whatever you produce with your OGLE'd data. gotta post it on our site.
thanks,
mike

I'm also looking into printing these out in metal, but at the moment I have no idea if that price will be insane or not.
mind if i re-post those photos to the OGLE blog?

Very cool. We're more than happy to have those images up there. Hopefully we'll be able to find a market for this product.
