Should we make this forum a mailing list?
while i'm not really a fan of sf's forum structure, i don't think a mailing list is required. monitoring this forum achieves the same result.
although - if it meant i could respond to messages through email instead through the forum interface, i might consider voting for it.

Exactly why I suggested it.
So convert Open Discussion into a mailing list and keep the Help forum? I think that a forum is more accessible to newcomers than a mailing list.
The ideal solution would be a forum accessible through the mail client as well, but this seems impossible with SF.
