    Notcurses

    Notcurses

blingful character graphics/TUI library. definitely not curses

A library facilitating complex TUIs on modern terminal emulators, supporting vivid colors, multimedia, threads, and Unicode to the maximum degree possible. Things can be done with Notcurses that simply can't be done with NCURSES. It is furthermore fast as shit. What it is not: a source-compatible X/Open Curses implementation, nor a replacement for NCURSES on existing systems. Notcurses abandons the X/Open Curses API bundled as part of the Single UNIX Specification. For some necessary background, consult Thomas E. Dickey's superb and authoritative NCURSES FAQ. As such, Notcurses is not a drop-in Curses replacement. Wherever possible, Notcurses makes use of the Terminfo library shipped with NCURSES, benefiting greatly from its portability and thoroughness. ...

    Kilo

    Kilo

A text editor in less than 1000 LOC with syntax highlight and search

...Despite its tiny size, Kilo supports core editor features like opening and saving files, incremental search, and basic syntax highlighting. It deliberately avoids external dependencies, not even using curses; instead it talks directly to the terminal using VT100 escape sequences, making it portable to most Unix-like systems with a compatible terminal. Because the codebase is compact and well-structured, it has become a popular teaching and learning resource, inspiring tutorials such as “Build Your Own Text Editor” that walk through implementing Kilo step by step.

    Glances

    Glances

    An eye on your system

Glances is an open source, cross-platform monitoring tool that aims to provide a significant amount of monitoring information through a curses or Web-based interface. Depending on the size of the user interface, this information can then dynamically adapt. Glances can work in client/server mode, and is also capable of remote monitoring. All systems statistics can be exported to files or external time/value databases. Glances gets information from your system through various libraries, and is based on an open architecture, so you can add new plugins or export modules.

    xterm.js

    xterm.js

    A terminal for the web

xterm.js is a TypeScript-based front-end terminal emulation component that lets web applications embed fully-featured terminal interfaces. It powers in-browser terminals in tools like VS Code and browser IDEs. Xterm.js works with most terminal apps such as bash, vim, and tmux, including support for curses-based apps and mouse events. Xterm.js is really fast, it even includes a GPU-accelerated renderer. Xterm.js is not a terminal application that you can download and use on your computer. Xterm.js is not bash. Xterm.js can be connected to processes like bash and let you interact with them (provide input, receive output).

Console-based user interface toolkit for .NET applications

...In addition, a complete Xterm/Vt100 terminal emulator that you can embed is now part of XtermSharp, you just need to pull TerminalView.cs into your project. Works on Windows, Mac, and Linux. Terminal drivers for Curses, Windows Console, and the .NET Console mean Terminal.Gui works well on both color and monochrome terminals and has mouse support on terminal emulators that support it. Both keyboard and mouse input are supported, including limited support for drag & drop. luaposix

    luaposix

    Lua bindings for POSIX APIs

This is a POSIX binding for LuaJIT, Lua 5.1, 5.2, 5.3 and 5.4; like most libraries, it simply binds to C APIs on the underlying system, so it won't work on non-POSIX systems. However, it does try to detect the level of POSIX conformance of the underlying system and bind only available APIs. For a while, luaposix contained support for curses functionality too, but now that has its own lcurses repository again, where it is being maintained separately.

    TAWS

    TAWS

A terminal-based AWS resource viewer and manager

TAWS is a terminal-based user interface (TUI) tool designed to help developers view and manage Amazon Web Services (AWS) resources directly from the command line in a curses-style, interactive environment. It provides a unified interface where users can explore their AWS resources such as EC2 instances, S3 buckets, IAM users, and more, all without switching to a web console, which can speed up workflows for frequent cloud administrators and developers alike. Because it runs in a terminal and is written with performance in mind, taws offers rapid navigation, filtering, and inspection of cloud services while maintaining keyboard-driven efficiency, similar to how tools like k9s help interact with Kubernetes clusters. ...
