Excalidraw, the virtual whiteboard app for sketching hand-drawn like diagrams, has come a long way. With the remote work becoming the status quo, Excalidraw was able to show its true potential and we’ve come to a point where over 100K people have used it just the last month! While it has been extremely successful as a free open source project, the biggest source of complaints nowadays is around adoption within companies: How do you share diagrams with your co-workers easily? Can your company depend on the service for live collaboration? Is your data secure? We’ve thought long and hard about how to make it happen in a volunteer-based open source model but haven’t found a great solution. So we decided to build a company around Excalidraw with the first product being Excalidraw+. With account-based access you can rest assured only the right people will have access to your data, while still retain the ability to share specific drawings with outside collaborators.

tldraw is a collaborative digital whiteboard available at tldraw.com. Its editor, user interface, and other underlying libraries are open source and available in this repository. They are also distributed on npm. You can use tldraw to create a drop-in whiteboard for your product or as the foundation on which to build your own infinite canvas applications.

draw.io is a JavaScript, client-side editor for general diagramming and whiteboarding. draw.io, this project, is a configurable diagramming/whiteboarding visualization application. draw.io is jointly owned and developed by JGraph Ltd and draw.io AG. draw.io is a diagramming or whiteboarding application, depending on which theme is selected. It is not an SVG editing app, the SVG export is designed only for embedding in web pages, not for further editing in other tools. The application is designed to be used largely as-is. It's possible to alter the major parts of the interface, but if you're looking for an editor with very specific editing features, the project is likely not a good base to use. That is to say, if you wanted to create/deploy a whiteboard or diagramming application where the functionality in the main canvas is as this project provides, it is more likely to be a good base to use.

It is designed to streamline the process of teaching math and science with a smart board, touchscreen or other similar device. It can best be understood as a multi-page image editor built for presenting/teaching use. This allows teachers to easily import a PowerPoint presentation, draw on the surface of each slide, add/remove pages if needed, and eventually save the finished product as a set of images for later use or perhaps distribution to the students. This can be useful for both presenting content in class as well as working through student questions, perhaps in a flipped-classroom setting.
