Launched more than 6 years ago, the freegeoip.net API has grown into one of the biggest and most widely used APIs for IP to location services worldwide. The API is used by thousands of developers, SMBs and large corporations around the globe and is currently handling more than 2 billion requests per day. After years of operation and the API remaining almost unchanged, today we announce the complete re-launch of freegeoip into a faster, more advanced and more scalable API service called ipstack. All users that wish to continue using our IP to location service will be required to sign up to obtain a free API access key and perform a few simple changes to their integration. While the new API offers the ability to return data in the same structure as the old freegeoip API, the new API structure offers various options of delivering much more advanced data for IP Addresses.

TinyREST allows a Java programmer to easily create a REST server without having to install a J2EE server. Creating a new server is as easy as copying the service jar, setting up a configuration file and writing your own service handler class. The resulting project can be made to start up as a service. Annotations can now be used to write handler class and methods. JDBC database access as well as file system access is allowed from the service.

This Vue CLI preset allows you to quickly start a web extension. Everything you need to build a web extension (manifest.json, .zip building, etc.), thanks to adambullmer/vue-cli-plugin-browser-extension. Build the extension into the dist folder for production. A zip file is also built and is located in the artifacts directory. Build the extension for development and watch over file changes. It also automatically reloads your extension into your browsers. If you are using GitHub Actions, you can easily automatically build a zip of your extension and create a new GitHub release, each time a new tag is pushed. If running webpack in watch mode, you need to stop and restart webpack to apply configuration changes.

The fundamental building block of warp is the Filter, they can be combined and composed to express rich requirements on requests. A Filter in warp is essentially a function that can operate on some input, either something from a request, or something from a previous Filter, and returns some output, which could be some app-specific type you wish to pass around, or can be some reply to send back as an HTTP response. That might sound simple, but the exciting part is the combinators that exist on the Filter trait. These allow composing smaller Filters into larger ones, allowing you to modularize, and reuse any part of your web server. As awesome as the Filter system is, if warp didn’t provide common web server features, it’d still be annoying to work with. Thus, warp provides a bunch of built-in Filters, allowing you to compose the functionality you need to describe each route or resource or sub-whatever.
