Open Source Perl Text to Speech Software

eGuideDog project develops free software for the blind. Currently, we focus on WebSpeech, Ekho TTS and WebAnywhere.

A machine translation program designed to accept verbal or text input and provide text or speech synthesized voice translation as output. Makes use of 3 current open-source projects. The source is currently C/C++ and embedded perl.

Text2phone is a French Text To Speech (TTS) written in Perl

krmp3 is a car mp3 player which currently provides interaction through text to speech synthesis and a keypad. It allows Playlist managment, the ability to rip cd's as you drive and other administrative tasks.

VOCP is a complete messaging solution for voice modems, with voicemail, fax, email pager, DTMF command shell and Text-to-Speech support, 3 GUIs and a web interface. Send and receive faxes and voicemail, listen to emails and execute programs on the host.

Guglina TTS, special edition: in English (guglinatts-en), is a voice synthesizer originally designed for Brazilian Portuguese. Uses the Google Translate text-to-speech API. Read screens for the visually impaired. Transforms text into audio, allowing blind or low-vision people to access content displayed on the screen. Although the main target audience for text-to-speech conversion systems - such as Guglina TTS EN - is people with visual impairment, this type of program can be used by people with dyslexia and other reading disabilities, people with severe as well as by pre-literate children. In addition to being an assistive technology tool, voice synthesizers can still have educational and entertainment applications.

To provide basic text-to-speech capability on as many platforms and for as many spoken languages as possible by formant synthesis from an International Phonetic Alphabet representation.
