A simple software update notifier for debian based systems
A simple, light-weight, desktop-independent update notification applet for the system tray on apt based systems as Debian, Ubuntu or Linux Mint. A cron job runs in the background and periodically checks for pending software updates, the applet informs you by its color about the state of your system. Through its menu you can view the list of pending updates, check for updates and install these. The main goal of un-applet is to provide an easy way to help users to keep their system up to date without getting in the user's way while keeping software dependencies at a minimum. -

This quite simple web form provides a possibility to end users to change their own *NIX account passwords even if interactive logins are not possible, e.g. pure SFTP accounts. Currently this is realized by a bash script with embedded expect code (need expect to be installed) and is also rewritten in python using pyexpect, so that there are no more dependencies, except for a http server. Both versions can be used equally. -

This program is completely stand alone (150 lines of code). A filename may be passed so the editor will open with it's contents or it can be used without a filename and a default filename will be assigned that may be changed before saving text. Recursive LDD (recursive-ldd) is a Perl script that allows displaying a tree-like hierarchy of shared library dependencies. The script calls on the standard Linux ldd utility in a recursion for every listed binary and library. It completes running when no matches are found in the current branch.
