(ie, noting softlinks and mount points can be need revealing). realpaths(1) is a realpath(3) clone and was made due to some realpath bugs. unlike realpath(3), realpaths(1) does not bake or guess part of the path: it only uses info from Linux and or libc from the filesystem of real files.
