A free collection of applications and utility programs
This project serves as a collection of different free software projects that I'm working on. The major ones are currently "HFSExplorer", "DMGExtractor", and "NTFS-3G for Mac OS X".
The Ext2 Filesystem Utilities (e2fsprogs) contain all of the standard utilities for creating, fixing, configuring , and debugging ext2 filesystems.
Squashfs is a highly compressed read-only filesystem for Linux. Squashfs compresses both files, inodes and directories, and supports block sizes up to 1Mbytes for greater compression. It is implemented as a kernel module under VFS.
Open source disk encryption with strong security for the Paranoid
VeraCrypt is a free disk encryption software brought to you by IDRIX (https://www.idrix.fr) and based on TrueCrypt 7.1a. It adds enhanced security to the algorithms used for system and partitions encryption making it immune to new developments in brute-force attacks. It also solves many vulnerabilities and security issues found in TrueCrypt. This enhanced security adds some delay ONLY to the opening of encrypted partitions without any performance impact to the application use phase. This is acceptable to the legitimate owner but it makes it much harder for an attacker to gain access to the encrypted data. All released files are PGP signed with key ID=0x54DDD393, available on key servers and downloadable at https://www.idrix.fr/VeraCrypt/VeraCrypt_PGP_public_key.asc VeraCrypt can mount TrueCrypt volumes. It also can convert them to VeraCrypt format. Documentation: https://www.veracrypt.fr/en/Documentation.html FAQ : https://www.veracrypt.fr/en/FAQ.html
Command line tool for managing Amazon S3 and CloudFront services
Open-source tool to access Amazon S3 file storage. S3cmd is a free command line tool and client for uploading, retrieving and managing data in Amazon S3 and other cloud storage service providers that use the S3 protocol, such as Google Cloud Storage. Lots of features and options have been added to s3cmd since its very first release in 2008.... we recently counted more than 60 command line options, including multipart uploads, encryption, incremental backup, s3 sync, ACL and Metadata management, S3 bucket size, bucket policies, and more!
BackupPC is a high-performance, enterprise-grade backup system for backing up Linux, WinXX PCs, Macs and laptops to a server's disk. Features include clever pooling of identical files, no client-side software, and a powerful Apache/CGI user interface.
Old home of linux NFS development; see linux-nfs.org instead now.
phpFileManager a complete filesystem management tool on a single file.
phpFileManager is a complete filesystem management tool on a single file. Features: . directory tree, with ajax loading . copy/move/delete/create/rename/edit/view/chmod files and folders . tar/zip/bzip/gzip . multiple uploads . shell terminal emulator . server info . portscan using PHP sockets . password protection . works on linux/mac/windows . php4/php5/apache2 compatible . english/portuguese/spanish/catalan/dutch/french/german/italian/korean/russian/polish/turkish translations If you like this script, please consider making a donation. Any amount is well received, and will help me continue giving support and adding new features.
Project moved to https://github.com/owfs/owfs/
Please note that OWFS source code, and all Issue/Tickets/merge requests have now been moved to https://github.com/owfs/owfs/. Developer mailing lists will still be kept at Sourceforge. ---- OWFS -- 1-Wire file system. Use the Dallas 1-Wire and iButton chips with standard filesystem commands. Create temperature loggers. Monitor everything. OWHTTPD -- same system, only used as a light weight web server. OWFS is also ported to embedded routers, Mac OSX and Windows. Basically you can use these inexpensive little sensors and other chips with very simple wiring to sense and control the physical environment. The interface is very flexible -- everything from a web browser, to read and writing directly to the chip's "file" to integrating with your programs -- even over the internet. There is a growing number of 1-wire sensors: temperature, voltage, humidity, light, ultraviolet, pressure, thermisters, thermocouples, programmable microcontrollers, relays, lights, LCD panels, etc
CDemu - a virtual CD/DVD drive for Linux. Project includes Linux kernel module & userspace utilities.
Partclone is a project like the well-known backup utility "Partition Image" a.k.a partimage. Partclone provide utilities to back up used blocks and design for higher compatibility of the file system using supported library like e2fslibs.
FATSort sorts directory structures of FAT file systems
FATSort is a small utilitiy for Linux that sorts directory structures of FAT12, FAT16 and FAT32 file systems. It is written in C and can be run from the command line.
Collectl is a light-weight performance monitoring tool capable of reporting interactively as well as logging to disk. It reports statistics on cpu, disk, infiniband, lustre, memory, network, nfs, process, quadrics, slabs and more in easy to read format.

XBOX 360 filesystem support for linux
Complete XBOX 360 filesystem support (FATX) including: - fusefatx: mount filesystem - mkfs.fatx: make filesystem - fsck.fatx: check and correct filesystem - label.fatx: change or display volume name - unrm.fatx: undelete files Try fatx manual pages to get help (man fatx)
SMBNetFS is a Linux/FreeBSD filesystem that allow you to use samba/microsoft network in the same manner as the network neighborhood in Microsoft Windows. Please donate me to help in SMBNetFS development.
httpfs depends on FUSE. It uses HTTP/1.1 extensions to read arbitrary bytes from a file on a web-server. This is particular interesting for an iso, since it can be investigated (loop device) without actually downloading the whole iso.
Text and binary file transformation
Text and binary file transformation. Text-based sed, awk, etc. failed me when I needed a simple way to transform binary files to something else. Transformenator is what resulted.
AVFS is a system, which enables all programs to look inside gzip, tar, zip, etc. files or view remote (ftp, http, dav, etc.) files, without recompiling the programs.
droiD64 is a graphical filemanager for D64 files (Commodore 64 and others). May this tool make life easier for Commodore 64 fans, especially for those using MAC and Linux systems as there are tools available for Windows anyway.
- Fast Wipe: wipe files and/or free hd space FAST! - Fast wipe has also secure deletion! wipe&fwip now supports up to 12 different wipe standards. - It works from command line: windows and linux os available. - works from windows explorer "Send To" - Works on any mounted partition.
File system benchmark
Filebench is a file system and storage benchmark that can generate both micro- and macro-workloads. It employs versatile Workload Model Language (WML) for detailed workload specification. Filebench includes several popular macro-workloads in its distribution: Web-server, Mail-server, Database-server, and others.
Sort files and pack them into partitions
Fpart is a tool that helps you sort file trees and pack them into bags (called "partitions"). It is developped in C and available under the BSD license. It splits a list of directories and file trees into a certain number of partitions, trying to produce partitions with the same size and number of files. It can also produce partitions with a given number of files or a limited size. Once generated, partitions are either printed as file lists to stdout (default) or to files. Those lists can then be used by third party programs. Fpart also includes a live mode, which allows it to crawl very large filesystems and produce partitions in live. Hooks are available to act on those partitions (e.g. immediatly start a transfer using rsync(1)) without having to wait for the filesystem traversal job to be finished. Used this way, fpart can be seen as a powerful data migration tool.
Fault tolerant, POSIX-compliant, network distributed filesystem
MooseFS (MFS) is a fault tolerant, highly performing, scaling-out, network distributed file system. It spreads data over several physical servers which are visible to the user as one resource. For standard file operations MooseFS mounted with FUSE acts as other Unix-alike file systems: * A hierarchical structure (directory tree) * Stores POSIX file attributes (permissions, last access and modification times) Supports special files (block and character devices, pipes and sockets) * Symbolic links (file names pointing to target files, not necessarily on MooseFS) and hard links (different names of files which refer to the same data on MooseFS) * Access to the file system can be limited based on IP address and/or password MooseFS on GitHub: https://github.com/moosefs/moosefs Source code, packages repo: https://moosefs.com/download.html Documentation: https://moosefs.com/documentation.html Recent changes: https://moosefs.com/documentation/changes-in-moosefs-3-0.html
Development moved to https://sourceforge.net/projects/ntfs-3g/
Development on this project has moved to https://sourceforge.net/projects/ntfs-3g/ The goals of this project are: create a new Linux kernel driver for the NTFS file system (1.2, 3.x, and later), user space utilities (e.g. format, ntfs check, etc.) and a library to avoid code duplication and provide access to NTFS to other GPL programs.
