DeSmuME is the most seasoned open source Nintendo DS emulator. It sports tools designed for hackers, speedrunners, youtubers, and casual gamers. Homebrew programs are supported and can even be debugged through GDB. The Windows and OSX versions are both relatively feature rich, and there is a small universe of forks and mods that add even more features for casual gaming. DeSmuME is the origin of RetroArch and OpenEmu Nintendo DS support and is used by several mobile Nintendo DS emulators, with the notable exception of DraStic. Locale Emulator is a tool similar to AppLocale and NTLEA, providing a simulation function that can make an application recognize your OS as in a language other than the real one. It is quite useful when you are trying to play country-specific games. Locale Emulator is compatible with the following systems, both 32 and 64-bit, Windows 7 with Service Pack 1, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10. Locale Emulator supports 32-bit executables running on both 32-bit or 64-bit systems. For example, if you are using 64-bit WinRAR, you will not see the context menu on a RAR file unless you swapped 64-bit WinRAR with the 32-bit version. Clone the repo using Git, install Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 / 2017, open LocaleEmulator.sln, perform build action, clone and build the core libraries, and copy LoaderDll.dll and LocaleEmulator.dll from Locale-Emulator-Core to Locale-Emulator build folder.

The Null-modem emulator (com0com) is a kernel-mode virtual serial port driver for Windows. You can create an unlimited number of virtual COM port pairs and use any pair to connect one COM port based application to another. The HUB for communications (hub4com) allows to receive data and signals from one COM or TCP port, modify and send it to a number of other COM or TCP ports and vice versa.

iSH is an open source project that allows for a Linux shell environment to run locally on your iOS device. It does this through a usermode x86 emulation and syscall translation. With iSH you can run Linux applications and programs on iOS, access the Alpine package manager, and install programs with apk add <name>. iSH also features a keyboard addition that makes navigation a whole lot easier.

This project is a fork of the original Nestopia source code, plus the Linux port. The purpose of the project is to enhance the original, and ensure it continues to work on modern operating systems.

MAME's purpose is to preserve decades of software history. As electronic technology continues to rush forward, MAME prevents this important "vintage" software from being lost and forgotten. This is achieved by documenting the hardware and how it functions. The source code to MAME serves as this documentation. The fact that the software is usable serves primarily to validate the accuracy of the documentation (how else can you prove that you have recreated the hardware faithfully?). Over time, MAME (originally stood for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) absorbed the sister-project MESS (Multi Emulator Super System), so MAME now documents a wide variety of (mostly vintage) computers, video game consoles and calculators, in addition to the arcade video games that were its initial focus. The MAME project as a whole is distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License, 2 (GPL-2.0), since it contains code made available under multiple GPL-compatible licenses.

ConEmu-Maximus5 aims to be handy, comprehensive, fast and reliable terminal window where you may host any console application developed either for WinAPI (cmd, powershell, far) or Unix PTY (cygwin, msys, wsl bash). As Windows console window enhancement (local terminal emulator), it presents multiple consoles and simple GUI applications as one customizable tabbed GUI window with various features. Also, due to deep integration, ConEmu is the best companion for Far Manager, my favorite shell replacement. Disclaimer. ConEmu is not a shell, so it does not provide "shell features" like tab-completion, command history and others. But you can run any shell or remote access client of your choice in ConEmu! Try Clink for bash-style completion in cmd.exe and PSReadLine or PowerTab in powershell.exe. Or just run Bash from your favourite distro. Also, ConEmu does not provide remote access (SSH/Telnet/...) too, just use your remote client (ssh.exe, telnet.exe) instead.
