Android File Search
Show files on Android device
A new version has been uploaded. Filename is "filesearch4.apk". This new version allows to delete files, rename files, delete directories, rename directories, and view text files when the file extension is : txt, xml, htm, html, xsl, xslt, text, ascii, ini, asp, aspx, java, kt, cs, js, jsp, php, bat, css, csv, kml, svg (feel free to ask for more file extensions, that should be a setting in the application in the future). The application starts browsing from the internal storage of the Android device ("/storage/emulated/0") so you can browse your data file (pictures, alarms, documents, downloads, movies, music, ringtones...). This version also allows you to view the first 1024 bytes of any clicked file in hex format if it is not a text file. -

Dfilebrowser is a light file manager written in QT (C++ and QML) The goal is to research the way to do a multi-platform file manager using QT. First version was developed in QT using widgets for the UI but this presented some issues when porting to mobile devices because they are focused on QML. The last widget version was 1.1 and worked for desktops, KDE Plasma Active and Wetab tablets. Version 1.2 has been rewritten from the scratch using QML and also QT Quick components and currently works only on Meego Harmattan devices (Nokia N) and N950). -

Have you ever wanted to add a Save as… button to a webapp? Whether you’re making an advanced WebGL-powered CAD webapp and want to save 3D object files or you just want to save plain text files in a simple Markdown text editor, saving files in the browser has always been a tricky business. Usually when you want to save a file generated with JavaScript, you have to send the data to your server and then return the data right back with a Content-disposition: attachment header. This is less than ideal for webapps that need to work offline. The W3C File API includes a FileSaver interface, which makes saving generated data as easy as saveAs(data, filename), though unfortunately it will eventually be removed from the spec. With FileSaver.js, which implements FileSaver in all modern browsers, it’s possible to generate any type of file you want right in the browser, document editors can have an instant save button that doesn’t rely on an online connection. -

JRF
Java Remote File - RemoteInputStream and RemoteOutputStream.
JRF is a client/server application that allows to extend local storage to other computers running the JRF Server. It has been designed for ultra-simplicity, **not for security!** It does not request for authentication when accessing files on a remote server, nor does it prevent access to files or directories. It has been designed for already-secured networks (e.g. LANs or inside VPNs), where file-sharing setup is tedious (or impossible). Basic access configuration/restriction should be performed on the OS, by changing rights of the user running the JRF Server. It is like an insecure FTP-like file sharing runnning on a single TCP port. Its Java nature gives Java programmers access to remote files as remote `InputStream` and `OutputStream`, with the added value of optionally **compressing data exchange** to ease up network usage. -
