mod2patch provides a Linux/Unix utility that can patch MOD02 Record 27 Offset 2 on Western Digital Hard Disks It may be used in conjunction with mod32patch that clears the Reallocated Sector Count and Current Pending Sector. A power off/on cycle to the hard disk is required for the new settings to take effect.

Retools is a set of modifications to the commonly used open source utilities bzip2, gzip, rsync, and tar that automatically selects the Lustre stripe count for created and/or extracted files according to the sizes of the files involved. By striping large files over a higher number of physical disks and small files over a lower number, aggregate I/O bandwidth for large files is maximized and the impact to the file system due to small files is minimized.

md5cp will traverse a file tree and check the MD5 checksum of each file. If the file is unchanged, it is ignored; if it is changed (or new), its MD5 is updated in the database, and the file is copied to the destination directory. A number of optional parameters can change what happens in addition to the file copy. This utility is useful for situations when file dates are corrupt and rsync cannot be used.
