Automatically exclude development dependencies from Apple Time backups

Automatically exclude development dependencies from Apple Time Machine backups. For macOS users, Time Machine is a no-frills, set-it-and-forget-it solution for on-site backups. Plug in an external hard drive (or configure a network storage drive), and your Mac's files are backed up. For the average consumer, Time Machine is an excellent choice, especially considering many Mac owners may only have Time Machine as a backup strategy. ...

    chezmoi

    chezmoi

Manage your dotfiles across multiple diverse machines, securely

Manage your dotfiles across multiple diverse machines, securely. chezmoi helps you manage your personal configuration files (dotfiles, like ~/.gitconfig) across multiple machines. chezmoi provides many features beyond symlinking or using a bare git repo including templates (to handle small differences between machines), password manager support (to store your secrets securely), importing files from archives (great for shell and editor plugins), full file encryption (using gpg or age), and running scripts (to handle everything else). chezmoi is helpful if you have spent time customizing the tools you use (e.g. shells, editors, and version control systems) and want to keep machines running different accounts (e.g. home and work) and/or different operating systems (e.g. Linux, macOS, and Windows) in sync, while still being able to easily cope with differences from machine to machine.

    VideoCompress

Compress videos, remove audio, manipulate thumbnails

Compress videos, remove audio, manipulate thumbnails, and make your video compatible with all platforms through this lightweight and efficient library. 100% native code was used, we do not use FFMPEG as it is very slow, bloated and the GNU license is an obstacle for commercial applications. In addition, google chrome uses VP8/VP9, safari uses h264, and most of the time, it is necessary to encode the video in two formats, but not with this library. All video files are encoded in an MP4 container with AAC audio that allows 100% compatibility with safari, mozila, chrome, android and iOS. Works on ANDROID, IOS and desktop (just MacOS for now).

    SwiftSearch

    SwiftSearch

    Searches NTFS volumes almost instantly

SwiftSearch is a lightweight program whose purpose is to help you quickly find the files you need on your Windows machine without ever requiring you to index your drives. Most search utilities that achieve similar speeds do so by indexing drives while the computer is idle, but because idleness detection is so difficult to get right, in practice they end up slowing down the whole system just to speed up search. SwiftSearch works differently: given administrator privileges, it completely bypasses the file system (only NTFS supported) and reads the file table directly every time, which speeds up search by many orders of magnitude. ...

    BinDiff

Helper app for VMware .vmdk files differential backup

This application is intended to make a diff files for the backup purposes. Imagine that you have a VM with 10GB vmdk file that you backup every day. So, you need to keep 100GB (let say 60GB with compression) for 10 days. However from those 10GB file only ~500MB is daily changed and you can shrink your backup storage to 15GB, if you keep only the daily difference. The BinDiff makes this job for you. Initially you make a full copy of vmfk file (let's say every month or two). That time you...

    Rsync time backup

Time Machine style backup with rsync

Rsync time backup is a shell script that provides Time Machine–style backups using rsync, with a focus on being simple, flexible, and cross-platform. It creates incremental backups of files and directories, placing each snapshot in its own timestamped folder so you can restore files by simply copying them from the backup tree. Just Imagine (OBSOLETE)

Obsolete, Time-Machine like utility for Macintosh

This project is obsolete. It depended on a feature of the Macintosh boot sequence which no longer exists, has not existed for some time now, and is extremely unlikely to return. Furthermore, much of the functionality that this project provided is now supplied by Apple's Time Machine utility. Old description: Just Imagine automates the generation of complete system disk images on OS/X or OS/X Server via a scheduled launchd reboot, running while the system disk is mounted read-only and no databases or other files are open for writing.
