Triceratops is an analogue style polyphonic subtractive synthesizer plugin, for use with the LV2 plug architecture, at this time there is no standalone version. An up to date version of the LV2 library is required along with a suitable host (e.g. Qtractor, Jalv, Ardour), I highly recommend either the KXstudio distro or the KXstudio ubuntu repositories! The intention is for this synth to be part of a suite including a drum machine (Stegosaurus) and a wavetable synth (Dracorex), watch this space. -

Was unable to find simple program to generate sound using a batch file or windows console. I needed this and thought at first that everyone and their brother had already written a simple program to output a sound using the default sound device on a windows 32 or 64 computer by typing tone plus frequency and duration (in milliseconds) Tone 1000 2000 (1khz at 2 seconds) great for server farms. This is a spin-off of a project of controlling a inteliport III. I got lazy and will just use mp3 files... -

This program functions in two ways. You can use it as a synthesizer with a randomly changing timbre (it moves smoothly between mixtures of triangle, square, and saw waves). When generating audio, why use sine waves and standard effects? Directly tell the sound-card how much electricity should be in the speaker/microphone wires many times per second as numbers from -1 to 1. Automatically finds good sound-card options and balances between linear interpolation speeds of consuming microphone buffer (and then any Java transform function per sample) and producing into speakers buffer and to keep delay between them small.
