Software Unit Tests (Language Independent Approach)
...Tests are run by a simple call to hwut in a base directory of a project.
In particular for C, HWUT supports make file generation using 'sos' and 'sols' modes. Remote control-able function stubs may be generated using the 'stub' mode. Test cases can be generated using the 'gen' mode, and state machine walkers by the 'sm_walker' mode.
Over the last decade HWUT has matured towards a full fledged unit test tool for a wide variety of applications.
The Software Testing Automation Framework (STAF) is a framework designed to improve the level of reuse and automation in test cases and test environments. The goal of STAF is to provide a complete end-to-end automation solution for testers.
Perl System Test (PEST) is a test harness, written in Perl, for running processes on a distributed testbed via SSH. Test processes are defined in a simple config file for execution on remote hosts, enabling a tester to run tests in serially or in parallel. Processes are as non-blocking and un-buffered as possible. The harness redirects process output to an individual log for each process and logs process metadata. It captures the return code of each remote process and interprets 0 as pass and everything else as fail, enabling it to run tests written in any language. ...
Automated Test Framework (ATF) is a functional test framework built on top of the existing Perl test harness. Currently it provides a simple interface for running tests in command line/shell environments on local and remote test target systems. The overall goal is to provide a simplified domain specific embedded language for testing.
This is being published primarily to accompany a presentation on a test framework being used for verification of various firmware components that must operate together.
...Later on alternative CI systems, like Jenkins and BuildBot, gained popularity, established big communities and evolved more, covering functionality of ExecKit, like automated remote execution abilities. Drop of usage of ExecKit caused the project being declared as Inactive.
