Command line interface for testing internet bandwidth using speedtest.net. It is not a goal of this application to be a reliable latency reporting tool. Latency reported by this tool should not be relied on as a value indicative of ICMP style latency. It is a relative value used for determining the lowest latency server for performing the actual speed test against. Speedtest CLI brings the trusted technology and global server network behind Speedtest to the command line.

Ethr is a cross-platform network performance measurement tool written in golang. The goal of this project is to provide a native tool for comprehensive network performance measurements of bandwidth, connections/s, packets/s, latency, loss & jitter, across multiple protocols such as TCP, UDP, HTTP, HTTPS, and across multiple platforms such as Windows, Linux and other Unix systems. Ethr takes inspiration from existing open-source network performance tools and builds upon those ideas. For Bandwidth measurement, it is similar to iPerf3, for TCP & UDP traffic. iPerf3 has many more options for doing such as throttled testing, richer feature set, while Ethr has support for multiple threads, which allows it to scale to 1024 or even higher number of connections, multiple clients communication to a single server etc. ...

...It operates at the HTTP application layer, giving developers more control over requests and responses than basic TCP throttling tools. Its core model uses poisons to alter traffic and rules to decide when those alterations should apply. Tests can inject latency, limit bandwidth, return errors, manipulate payloads, or combine several adverse conditions. Rules can filter traffic by route, headers, query values, methods, bodies, and other request properties. A hierarchical middleware architecture makes the proxy extensible with custom behaviors and reusable modules. ...To support more realistic testing of Internet server applications, we develop a live flow reproduction tool - TCPCopy, which could generate the test workload that is similar to the production workload. Currently, TCPCopy has been widely used by companies in China. TCPCopy has little influence on the production system except occupying additional CPU, memory and bandwidth. Moreover, the reproduced workload is similar to the production workload in request diversity, network latency and resource occupation. TCPCopy consists of two parts, TCPCopy and intercept. While TCPCopyruns on the online server and captures the online requests, intercept runs on the assistant server and does some assistant work, such as passing response info to TCPCopy.
