    zhuzhiliao

    zhuzhiliao

Traditional toy that makes a wah-wah sound when it spins

Zhuzhiliao is a browser simulation of the traditional Chinese bamboo cicada toy that makes a distinctive sound when swung in circles. The experience runs from a single dependency-free HTML file and can work offline without a build step or backend. Touch gestures, automatic swinging, and mobile motion sensors can drive the virtual toy. A fixed-step physics model simulates gravity, an elastic string, drag, tension, and rotational speed.

    Maelstrom

    Maelstrom

A workbench for writing toy implementations of distributed systems

Maelstrom is a distributed-systems workbench by the Jepsen team. It provides standardized JSON-based protocols and test harnesses (via Jepsen) to validate the behavior of custom toy systems—like commutative sets or transactional key-value stores—under simulated failure conditions. You implement your server in any language, connect through stdin/stdout, and the framework injects network disruptions, partitions, and consistency checks.

    CPlusPlusThings

Collection of various C++ code samples, utilities, patterns

CPlusPlusThings is a repository collecting various C++ code samples, utilities, patterns, and small example projects. It is less a polished product and more a learning/reference collection of snippets and usages of C++ idioms, data structures, algorithms, utilities, and perhaps tricks or meta-programming exercises. (No prominent README or detailed docs were available from my quick search.) Example implementations of data structures and algorithms. Organized as a learning repository (rather...

    Uncertainty Baselines

    Uncertainty Baselines

High-quality implementations of standard and SOTA methods

Uncertainty Baselines is a collection of strong, well-documented training pipelines that make it straightforward to evaluate predictive uncertainty in modern machine learning models. Rather than offering toy scripts, it provides end-to-end recipes—data input, model architectures, training loops, evaluation metrics, and logging—so results are comparable across runs and research groups. The library spans canonical modalities and tasks, from image classification and NLP to tabular problems, with baselines that cover both deterministic and probabilistic approaches. ...

    Rust Latam

    Rust Latam

Learn to write Rust procedural macros

This is a workshop/repository by the Rust developer David Tolnay (dtolnay) intended to teach how to write Rust procedural macros (derive macros, function-like macros, attribute macros). The repo contains multiple toy/realistic macro projects drawn from real use-cases: e.g., derive(Builder), derive(CustomDebug), seq!, #[sorted], #[bitfield]. The README indicates the focus is on learning: parsing token streams, generating code, handling generics, attribute arguments, etc. It has test harness and workflow guidance. Because procedural macros are quite subtle in Rust, this workshop is a strong resource for anyone wanting to go from beginner to intermediate/advanced macro writing.

    Food Truck

    Food Truck

    SwiftUI sample code from WWDC22

...It showcases SwiftUI-first architecture with navigation, lists, detail flows, and state management suitable for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. The project models a small business scenario—menus, orders, inventory, and analytics—so you can see realistic domain logic rather than a toy counter. It integrates with platform frameworks like Charts, widgets, and notifications to highlight how to surface insights and re-engage users. The code emphasizes testability and separation of concerns, illustrating how to structure features and preview them with sample data. For teams adopting SwiftUI at scale, it serves as a guided reference that balances clean architecture with platform-native polish.

    chibicc

    chibicc

    A small C compiler

...It is intended as both a functional compiler and a learning resource, allowing developers to understand how compilers work by reading and studying its implementation. Despite being categorized as a “toy” compiler, it is powerful enough to compile real-world programs such as Git, SQLite, and libpng without modification. The project is structured incrementally, with each commit representing a step in building a full compiler, making it particularly valuable for educational purposes. It includes support for advanced C features such as floating-point types, variable-length arrays, thread-local storage, and atomic operations. ...

    Albedo

    Albedo

A recommender system for discovering GitHub repos

...A reproducible setup and Makefile-driven workflow streamline tasks like spinning up services, loading datasets, training models, and generating candidate lists. Because it’s built around Spark’s scalable primitives, Albedo can experiment on substantial snapshots of GitHub metadata rather than toy corpora. The repo is also educational: it demonstrates a practical end-to-end pipeline from ingestion and feature preparation to training and ranking.

    TISP

    A simple, LISP-like programming language.

ThyLordRoot's Interpreted S-expression Parser (TISP) is a LISP-like programming language developed for the benefit of ThyLordRoot's viewers on Twitch.tv. This heritage was chosen for its simplicity and affordance of rapid prototyping. Although it is a toy language, it is intended to be Turing complete, and bootstrapping TISP is a major goal.

    Poe

Poe is a small, fast, flexible scripting language.

...The language is written entirely in ANSI C, meaning that the language is ultra-portable (i.e. that it can exist on any platform for which there is a standard-conforming C compiler). Poe is a toy language that is not, and will never be, suitable for production use. However, writing the language was a fantastic academic exercise and the source code is available freely as a reference to anyone who may be interested. The entirety of the source code was written by me, Ricky Stewart, with the exception of the parser which is generated from Flex/Bison.
