    dotenv

    dotenv

A Ruby gem to load environment variables from `.env`

Shim to load environment variables from .env into ENV in development. Storing configuration in the environment is one of the tenets of a twelve-factor app. Anything that is likely to change between deployment environments–such as resource handles for databases or credentials for external services–should be extracted from the code into environment variables.

    PHP dotenv

    PHP dotenv

    django-environ

    django-environ

Django-environ allows you to utilize 12factor inspired environment

The idea of this package is to unify a lot of packages that make the same stuff: Take a string from os.environ, parse and cast it to some of useful python typed variables. To do that and to use the 12factor approach, some connection strings are expressed as url, so this package can parse it and return a urllib.parse.ParseResult. These strings from os.environ are loaded from a .env file and filled in os.environ with setdefault method, to avoid overwriting the real environment. A similar approach is used in Two Scoops of Django book and explained in the 12factor-Django article. django-environ is the Python package that allows you to use the Twelve-factor methodology to configure your Django application with environment variables. For that, it gives you an easy way to configure Django application using environment variables obtained from an environment file and provided by the OS.

    direnv

    direnv

    Unclutter your .profile

direnv is an extension for your shell. It augments existing shells with a new feature that can load and unload environment variables depending on the current directory. Before each prompt, direnv checks for the existence of a .envrc or .env file in the current and parent directories. If the file exists (and is authorized), it is loaded into a bash sub-shell and all exported variables are then captured by direnv and then made available to the current shell.

    env

    env

A simple and zero-dependencies library to parse environment variables

Parse environment variables to structs in Go. In Go, it’s dead simple to get the value from an environment variable. If you have a type that is not supported out of the box by the lib, you are able to use (or define) and pass custom parsers (and their associated reflect.Type) to the env.ParseWithFuncs() function. Env supports by default anything that implements the TextUnmarshaler interface.

    Windows (Dockur)

    Windows (Dockur)

    Windows inside a Docker container

This project makes it surprisingly easy to run a Windows environment inside a Docker container by using a QEMU-based virtual machine under the hood. It provides a turnkey image and a simple set of environment variables so you can select Windows editions, control disk persistence, and access the VM via a web-based VNC console or similar remote viewers. Because the VM is wrapped in Docker, you can treat Windows as a disposable, repeatable service: create, snapshot with volumes, tear down, and rebuild with consistent results. ...

Go implementation of the XDG Base Directory Specification

...The package also includes the locations of well-known user directories, as well as other common directories such as fonts and applications. The current implementation supports most flavors of Unix, Windows, macOS and Plan 9. On Windows, where XDG environment variables are not usually set, the package uses Known Folders as defaults. Therefore, appropriate locations are used for common folders which may have been redirected.

    Firebase for Laravel

    Firebase for Laravel

A Laravel package for the Firebase PHP Admin SDK

...For server-to-server communication, this is done with a Service Account. The package uses auto-discovery for the default project to find the credentials needed for authenticating requests to the Firebase APIs by inspecting certain environment variables and looking into Google's well-known path(s). Once you have downloaded the Service Account JSON file, you can configure the package by specifying environment variables starting with FIREBASE_ in your .env file. For further configuration, please see config/firebase.php. You can modify the configuration by copying it to your local config directory or by defining the environment variables used in the config file.

    Go Clean template

    Go Clean template

Clean Architecture template for Golang services

The purpose of the template is to show how to organize a project and prevent it from turning into spaghetti code, where to store business logic so that it remains independent, clean, and extensible, how not to lose control when a microservice grows. Configuration. First, config.yml is read, then environment variables overwrite the yaml config if they match. The config structure is in the config.go. The env-required: true tag obliges you to specify a value (either in yaml, or in environment variables). For configuration, we chose the cleanenv library. It does not have many stars on GitHub, but is simple and meets all the requirements. ...

    Errbit

The open source error catcher that's Airbrake API compliant

...The way Errbit arranges notices into error groups is configurable. By default, Errbit uses the notice's error class, error message, complete backtrace, component (or controller), action and environment name to generate a unique fingerprint for every notice. Notices with identical fingerprints appear in the UI as different occurences of the same error and notices with differing fingerprints are displayed as separate errors. Following the recommendation of 12factor.net, Errbit takes all of its configuration from environment variables. ...
