    Anko

    Anko

    An Android application development library

Anko is a Kotlin library which makes Android application development faster and easier. It makes your code clean and easy to read, and lets you forget about rough edges of the Android SDK for Java. Anko was born as a type-safe DSL for building Android layouts. It not only allowed creating layouts in a type-safe way, but it made the layouts more adaptable, dynamic, reusable, and also performant, as there was no need for expensive layout inflation. Anko consists of several parts that make up the complete framework, which are: Anko Commons: a lightweight library full of helpers for intents, dialogs, logging and so on. Anko Layouts: a fast and type-safe way to write dynamic Android layouts. Anko SQLite: a query DSL and parser collection for Android SQLite. Anko Coroutines: utilities based on the kotlinx.coroutines library.

    Gradle IntelliJ Plugin

    Gradle IntelliJ Plugin

Gradle plugin for building plugins for IntelliJ-based IDEs

The Gradle IntelliJ Plugin is a plugin for the Gradle build system to help configure your environment for building, testing, verifying, and publishing plugins for IntelliJ-based IDEs. The Gradle Wrapper files, and in particular the Gradle-wrapper.properties file, which specifies the version of Gradle to be used to build the plugin. If needed, the IntelliJ IDEA Gradle plugin downloads the version of Gradle specified in this file. The IDE Plugin generator automatically creates the Run Plugin run configuration that can be executed via the Run | Run... action or can be found in the Gradle tool window under the Run Configurations node. To execute the Gradle runIde task directly, open the Gradle tool window and search for the runIde task under the Tasks node. If it's not on the list, hit the re-import button in the toolbar at the top of the Gradle tool window.

    Kotlin JDSL

    Kotlin JDSL

Kotlin library that makes it easy to build and execute queries

Kotlin JDSL is a Kotlin library that makes it easy to build a query without a generated metamodel. There are many libraries that use an annotation processing tool (APT) to do the job. However, with the APT, you have to recompile whenever the name or type of field in an entity or a table class is changed. Kotlin JDSL provides a domain-specific language (DSL) based on KClass and KProperty to help you easily build queries without such inconveniences from the APT. Kotlin JDSL does not provide an executor or a wrapper class as it is designed to help you build and execute queries with the library you are using.

    LeakCanary

    LeakCanary

A memory leak detection library for Android

LeakCanary is a reliable memory leak detection library for Android. It effectively detects leaks and narrows down the cause of each leak through its in-depth knowledge of the internals of the Android Framework. This helps developers avoid and dramatically reduce OutOfMemoryError (OOM) crashes. A memory leak is a programming error that can cause an OutOfMemoryError crash. It’s often caused by bugs related to the lifecycle of objects, and can occur fairly often in Android applications. LeakCanary helps to find and fix those leaks during development so you never have to experience another OOM crash.

    Maestro

    Maestro

    Painless Mobile UI Automation

Maestro is the simplest and most effective mobile UI testing framework. Maestro is built on learnings from its predecessors (Appium, Espresso, UIAutomator, XCTest) and allows you to easily define and test your Flows. Built-in tolerance to flakiness. UI elements will not always be where you expect them, screen tap will not always go through, etc. Maestro embraces the instability of mobile applications and devices and tries to counter it. Built-in tolerance to delays. No need to pepper your tests with sleep() calls. Maestro knows that it might take time to load the content (i.e. over the network) and automatically waits for it (but no longer than required). Blazingly fast iteration. Tests are interpreted, no need to compile anything. Maestro is able to continuously monitor your test files and rerun them as they change.

    py2many

    py2many

Transpiler of Python to many other languages

Python is popular, and easy to program in, but it has poor runtime performance. We can fix that by transpiring a subset of the language into a more performant, statically typed language. A second benefit is security. Writing security-sensitive code in a low-level language like C is error-prone and could lead to privilege escalation. Specialized languages such as wuffs exist to address this use case. py2many can be a more general-purpose solution to the problem where you can verify the source via unit tests before you transpile. Swift and Kotlin dominate the mobile app development workflow. However, there is no one solution that works well for lower level libraries where there is desire to share code between platforms. Kotlin Mobile Multiplatform (KMM) is a player in this place, but it hasn't really caught on. py2many provides an alternative.

    Circuit

    Circuit

A Compose-driven architecture for Kotlin and Android applications

Circuit is used in production at Slack and is ready for general use. The API is considered unstable as we continue to iterate on it. Circuit is a simple, lightweight, and extensible framework for building Kotlin applications that’s Compose from the ground up. It builds upon core principles we already know like Presenters and UDF, and adds native support in its framework for all the other requirements we set out for above. It’s heavily influenced by Cash App’s Broadway architecture (talked about at Droidcon NYC, also very derived from our conversations with them).

    DivKit

    DivKit

DivKit is an open source Server-Driven UI (SDUI) framework

DivKit is an open source Server-Driven UI (SDUI) framework. It allows you to roll out server-sourced updates to different app versions. Also, it can be used for fast UI prototyping, allowing you to write a layout once and then ship it to iOS, Android, and Web platforms. DivKit is an excellent choice to start using server-driven UI in your project because it can be easily integrated as a simple view in any part of your app. At the starting point, you don’t need a server integration. You can include all JSON on the client-side to try it in a real-world application. Also, we’ve made a sandbox for you to experiment with. You can try different samples in the web editor and see the results on the web or in the Android demo app, both of which are available on Google Play. We’ll publish the iOS demo app shortly. The UI in the demo can be updated live: the sandbox connects to the demo app via web sockets.
