JASA allows researchers in agent-based computational economics to write high-performance trading simulations using a number of different auction protocols. The software also provides base classes for implementing simple adaptive trading agents.

JECL, pronounced "Jekyll", is an open-source Java library implementing a variety of evolutionary algorithms. The goal is to provide a uniform interface for describing problems, running evolutionary algorithms, and accumulating results. The Java Evolutionary Computation Library is no longer under active development. We suggest the MOEA Framework (http://www.moeaframework.org/), jMetal (http://jmetal.sourceforge.net/), ECJ (http://cs.gmu.edu/~eclab/projects/ecj/) or JGAP (http://jgap.sourceforge.net/) as alternatives.

Java Expert Rule Based Inference Language. Jerbil is an open source rule processing engine written in Java. Currently Jerbil supports a full set of processing functions with text-based and XML interfaces; a Java interface is planned.

For the purpose of policy simulation in coupled social-ecological systems (e.g. energy supply), a credible modelling of actors – especially citizens – and their decision processes is needed. This requires a framework capable of handling high numbers of heterogeneous agents (several hundreds of thousands). LARA (Lightweight Architecture for boundedly Rational Agents) meets these requirements and fills the gap between frameworks without built-in psychological foundations and full-fledged cognitive architectures which are both not viable options in this context. LARA provides prefabricated components of an agent’s decision process like perception, memory, and different modes of decision making. These components are psychologically plausible, i.e. based on appropriate psychological results and theories. Moreover, interfaces for basic learning and social influence are available.

Briefly said, PetriNetExec is an open-source Java library which allows you to embed Petri Nets into your Java application. Using PetriNetExec you can define places and transitions, connect them using arcs and inhibitors, define the initial marking and then fire events and see how tokens flow into the network. * PetriNetExec does not provide a GUI for editing the network nor will it provide in the near future. That is not really a feature :-) but to those of you able to cope with this news I suggest to read further; * Petri Nets are created with PetriNetExec by writing Java code and using the provided API; * PetriNetExec provides a simple yet powerful callback mechanism allowing you to actually do something when events are fired and the network status is changing. * PetriNetExec is embeddable into your Java application. This means that you can build your own application and add Petri Nets into it. * PetriNetExec is open-source.

MED-FOES is an implementation of a stochastic Agent-Based Simulation (ABS) system for analyzing demographic changes in a single population of Medfly (Ceratitis capitata) over time. The simulation currently takes population extinction as a given because it aims to give us better estimates of necessary quarantine lengths in areas where Medfly is not currently established but does repeatedly invade. Thus the objective of this software is to estimate the time to local extirpation based on known ranges of developmental, survivorship and reproductive parameters, as well as assumed ranges of an eradication pressure parameter. For a complete analysis and estimate of time to extirpation one would execute a large number of individual simulations evenly distributed over parameter space to estimate the time at which an arbitrary percentage of the simulations show extirpation.
