    z

    z

Tracks your most used directories, based on 'frecency'

...After a short learning phase, z will take you to the most 'frecent directory that matches ALL of the regexes given on the command line, in order. For example, z foo bar would match /foo/bar but not /bar/foo. The rank of directories maintained by z undergoes aging based on a simple formula. The rank of each entry is incremented every time it is accessed. When the sum of ranks is over 9000, all ranks are multiplied by 0.99. Entries with a rank lower than 1 are forgotten. Frecency is a portmanteau of 'recent' and 'frequency'. It is a weighted rank that depends on how often and how recently something occurred. As far as I know, Mozilla came up with the term. ...

On the text viewer, user can select a new keyword and start a new search instantly. On the list view, external editor can be invoked by double clicks. Also, the found files can be drag & dropped to other window. This project is a clone of TabTextFinder (http://sourceforge.jp/projects/tabtextfinder/simple/) dedicated to Japanese character sets with automatic encoding detection. This clone omits the automatic encoding detection and uses the default encoding by default.

    Tags

Extend your Finder with tags, to find your files in multiple ways.

...Well, Tags allows you to do exactly that on the mac. Create new Tags by duplicating and renaming the Mother Tag. Drag your file or folder on top of a Tag icon to add it to that Tag. Double-click a Tag to view all items that you added to it. Remove items from a Tag by dragging them to the Trash. Or remove the Tag itself by dragging it to the Trash. Tags are just like folders in many ways; you can even tag Tags! The software works on Mac OS X 10.4 and all higher versions. Have a look at the screenshots to inspire you, and make sure to read the Readme that is included with the download, because it's really helpful.
