The main difference from Caffeine is that Wakefull gives you (the user) access to the scripts being run - so you can adapt it for whatever environment you are using. PyPowerMan shall be a replacement for KPowersave which is not further supported by Ubuntu. At least it should manage the powerstate of a laptop using different profiles.
