    This toolbox is a collection of MatLab functions for reading WinView/WinSpec files (.spe extension) directly to MatLab. It provides functions for reading full header from file into a structure, reading frames into matrices, and reading pixel values across all frames. You can use these functions to analyse and process experiment data stored in .spe files in MatLab, and to write functions to export .spe files to animated GIFs for use in presentations. Also includes simple MatLab application for converting files to GIF, AVI and .spe files, and provides functionality for quick addition of support for WinView-like formats by users, without the need to call developers.

    ...The summarizer from Classifier4J has been adjusted to accept two inputs (lets call them A and B). Then, the summarizer gets trained with A to summarize a document B, and vice versa. This extracts a relevant structure for both documents (and thus avoids the over-training) which are then compared using the Vector-Space analysis to give a range of belonging of one document to another (and thus avoids the shortage of information). This method can be used to create the user-defined classes by merging texts of certain categories and then to calculate the relevant distances between the documents, but this is not necessary.

    The storage and data transferring of large genome data are becoming important concerns for biomedical researchers. We present a novel multi-reference based genome compression method with a hierachical structure. Our approach works for the de facto standard alignment format (i.e., BAM) compression that is the pressing need at present. We align new sequences to a reference sequence using SOAP3, a GPU-based aligning software, and summarize mapping properties and information for exact mapped reads. To increase the exact aligning rate, we also realign the approximately mapped and unmapped reads by changing the reference sequence or shortening the read length. ...
