gVirtualXRay is a C++ library to simulate X-ray imaging. It is based on the Beer-Lambert law to compute the absorption of light (i.e. photons) by 3D objects (here polygon meshes). It is implemented on the graphics processing unit (GPU) using the OpenGL Shading Language (GLSL).
SimpleGVXR is a smaller library build on the top of gVirtualXRay. It provides wrappers to Python, R, Ruby, Tcl, C#, Java, and GNU Octave.

WrapImaJ purposes to be a multi-platform wrapper for different
Image Processing systems for:
- using the Java programming language.
The purpose of WrapImaJ is not to combine an exhaustive collection
of all functionalities of different imaging system, but to offer
a simple, concise Application Programming Interface (API)
- allowing to develop imaging software, the source code of which is
independent from the underlying imaging system on which it relies.
In it's current form, it only wraps basic functionalities of ImageJ.
The developers of WrapImaJ intend the library to support compatibilty
with the main imaging systems available in the Java language and
broadly used in the field of life sciences.
Razor is a set of Java- and JOGL-based medical image tools which can be composed into a standalone application or integrated into other medical imaging applications. Via JOGL, Razor uses OpenGL to enhance and accelerate some medical imaging functions.
